Please read the following Q & A to learn more about the tour. If there is still a question
you have that is not answered here you can send me an email at the bottom of the page.
What is "waterfalling"?
"Waterfalling" is the term used to describe someone who leisurly seeks out and spends time
with waterfalls. On this tour we will be going waterfalling.
When?
The tours will take place on weekends (Saturday or Sunday). How many weekends I book will vary upon the amount
of people who sign up. If the demand is there I have no problem booking a full weekend (2 tours).
How many people per tour?
I can accept up to 6 people on a tour. If I cannot place at least 3 people on a tour I will have to cancel
or postpone the tour until this minimum is met. To avoid this possibility it is best to inquire if your
family, friends or co-workers would like join you for the day.
I can get up to 6 people together but we would like to set our own date.
Sure. We'll work out our availabilities and go on a day that satisfies both our schedules.
How do we get there?
For those of you that live in the GTA we will meet at Square One Shopping Centre in downtown Mississauga. Leave
your vehicle(s) behind, jump into my van, and let me shuttle you in the luxury that only a Ford Windstar GL can provide
(I have commercial passenger insurance).
What if I live in Oakville, Burlington, Flamborough, Milton, or even Hamilton...?
Not to worry, no need to backtrack. We will arrange alternative pick up points along the QEW, like the Oakville
Place Shopping Centre in Oakville or the carpool lot just off Guelph line.
How long is the day?
We depart from Square One Shopping Centre at 9am and return at 6pm. The actual time spent waterfalling,
without including travel time to and from Hamilton, is about 7 hours.
How many waterfalls will we see?
We will have no problem seeing 6 waterfalls in a day but it will most likely be 8 to 10. If
we're feeling lucky we can squeeze in 12 or more. Much of this will depend on the group dynamic. We will move
at a pace that is comfortable for the group; I don't want you to feel rushed. Remember that it is the journey that counts.
Is lunch provided?
Yes. There will be a selection of assorted sandwiches, fruits, drinks and snacks.
What else is included?
You will receive a CD guide on "How to Photograph Waterfalls". I will share with you my methods
and tips for successfully capturing these beautiful subjects when they are at their best. There will also be information
and resources on finding many other waterfalls in the Hamilton area as well as the rest of our wonderful province.
The CD contents will be in PDF format.
Can I bring a camera?
Of course! At each waterfall location you will have some time to take pictures and walk around the area.
We will also be traversing the Spencer Gorge with some wonderful aerial views of the valley and the town of Dundas.
Along the way I will be glad to answer any photography related questions.
Will we be hiking a lot?
Hiking distance to many of the waterfalls range from about 15 minutes down to mere yards. Although many of
the trails are flat there will be some moderate hilly terrain in areas. Our longest hike will be in the early afternoon when
we traverse the Spencer Gorge from Tews Falls to Webster's Falls. This hike is about 6 km's. If you feel you have
less than average physical fitness I would recommend consulting your doctor or medical professional before signing up
for the tour.
What if it rains?
I'll keep an eye on the forecast for the day of the tour. If it looks like it is going to rain I will postpone
the tour for another day.
How much does it cost?
It's $75 plus PST per adult and $50 plus PST for children aged 4 to 15 years. Children 3 and under are
FREE. Once paid, please bring your PayPal reciept to the shuttle location so I can confirm your space.
I applied for the tour but now I need to cancel because something came up.
Unfortunately there is a non-refundable processing fee that is required to cover for service charges with my website
and/or merchant accounts. It is $10 for adults and $7 for children.
Best thing you can do is find someone who can go. Give them your PayPal reciept and please call or email me
to let me know you have switched places with someone. I require their name and contact information.
Anything else I should know?
Remember to dress according to seasonal conditions. Dressing in layers is best. Your body temperature
will be adjusting throughout the day as we hike, then rest, then hike again. Removing a jacket or adding a light
sweater will make all the difference in your overall comfort. A good pair of hiking boots or rubber-soled shoes will
keep you from losing your footing on the trails.
