This was my third morning attempt to get a sunrise here. It's easy to forget the planning that generally goes into making a landscape image. I scouted this area on a Georgian Bay trip. I knew that a sunrise would add relief and dimension to the seemingly endless supply of rocks as they meandered towards the horizon. The glassy calm water was even more sublime because a long exposure gave birth to some lovely dancing reflections. The line of low clouds hanging just above the horizon definitely added that extra pop of colour and tied the whole composition together. I would make the 4 hour drive every Friday evening after work, sleep in the car, wake before first light and set up in the hopes of getting a clear sky morning. Perseverance pays off since the third morning rewarded me with this.
