I love how water takes many shapes and forms. Here you can see examples of water freezing, thawing, and freezing over again as the days and weeks go by. Even moments later, as the day warms up, this scene will be forever lost. It's something we take for granted. A studious composition like this is often shattered simply by walking over the ice in our hurried lives. I took this as a dense, rain-soaked cloud cooled the light, allowing the warmth of the trapped leaves to contrast nicely against the blue tones in the ice. Water droplets were forming under the ice as I was setting up which added a nice visual bonus.
