I like searching for simple elements in nature to distill into my photographs. They can give you a sense of place without overwhelming the viewer with extraneous information. Nature can be very chaotic and it's my job as a photographer to tell a story without too many words. Composition is the sinlge most important element that I have to work with. Good lighting and great subject matter doesn't hurt, but if the composition isn't good the image suffers. Here the monotonous field of green marigolds in early spring are sprinkled with a pleasant smattering of yellow flowers and some neatly arranged logs.
